Professional Services and Private Sector Associations
For professional service providers looking to expand and export their services, 2007 promises to be a watershed year heralding a new level of support and assistance to realise their ambitions.
An umbrella body became operational in 2007 that will represent the interests of all service providers. The Ministry of Trade was finalising a Services Trade Policy in 2007 which would then go before Cabinet for approval. Caribbean Export and the Commonwealth Secretariat commissioned a marketing study specifically for professional services in three countries including Trinidad. The study was conducted in 2006 with the final report completed in 2007 and to be submitted to the Minister of Trade for approval.
In August 2006, Prime Minister Patrick Manning officially launched the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries (TTCSI) and announced it would provide the organisation with a budget of approximately TT$3.7 million over the first five years of operation.
