Given Tobago's unique economic activity, a Tobago Chamber was established on the island in 1936 which in 1973 merged with the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC). It became known as the Tobago Division of the TTCIC and focused specifically on the development of business on the twin island.

The Division works closely with the Tobago House of Assembly and Central Government and is a link between the private and public sectors in creating initiatives and removing obstacles to achieve sustainable development in Tobago.

The Division views itself as the eyes, ears and voice of the private sector in Tobago and quietly works behind the scenes contributing to diverse areas of development.

Committees have been formed to accomplish the mandate and goals of the Division. Included are Business Development & Tourism, Security, Environment, and Inter Island Transport.

At present the Division is focused on creating new strategies which will aid in the resuscitation of the tourism sector which is the main driver of the Tobago economy. It will continue to work closely with Government and other stakeholders to ensure economic and business stability in Tobago.
