Publisher's Note

The last 10 years of producing the Who’s Who in Trinidad and Tobago Business have gone by in a flash, and I find myself at the very same worktable at home where we wrote our first letters to prospective advertisers. Today, however, we enjoy our own offices and a staff of six, and celebrate our maturity as a publication with a 10th Anniversary edition that also reflects the quality of life and maturity of the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

We are extremely proud that we have been able to serve our customers and their customers with a consistent level of quality and innovation, and with a focused circulation. In all of our surveys we have continued to be the number one, top-of-mind business publication in Trinidad and Tobago.

Today the worldwide recession and its impacts on our own small nation have reduced marketing and advertising budgets in many areas. The size of the average consumer spend has also been reduced, leading to a catch-22 situation for many companies and brand-owners who have to decide where to direct their advertising spend. We believe our publication has a value proposition that is extremely relevant in these times, perhaps even more so than in the good times, as it is now critical that people know who they hope to do business with, and the windows of opportunity are closing quickly.

From a leadership perspective I can say that the entire success of this publication and the other great publications of the group is a credit to the hard work of my dear wife, Patricia, and her co-pilot Marie Gurley. Congratulations to the other hard-working sales, administration and design members of the Prestige family who have also made a huge contribution, and we really appreciate it. Our business partners in the writing, editorial, printing, design, layout and photography disciplines have for the most part been with us from the beginning and have been amazing, so thank you again.

Last but by no means least, I want to thank our advertisers, who are the reason we get up and go to work every day, look for innovative ways to do new things, and survey our users every three years; and who, quite frankly, are the reason we have enjoyed the last 10 years of publishing this book. We hope that together we will continue to create the business opportunities the concept was developed to do.
