Towards making safety second nature
A DECADE AGO safety was a concern mostly in places that employed the use of machinery. The mention of "health and safety" immediately brought to mind a picture of construction workers in hard hats, masked employees working assembly lines or those in oilfield coveralls and steel-tipped boots. The observations of safe practices were simplistic at best in all but a handful of sectors. It is pleasing to note that while health and safety have a long way to go in becoming a part of our work and home culture, a much wider swathe of Trinidad and Tobago's employers and employees no longer need to be goaded or spoon-fed in this area.
