Company Details

Renew Star Serpentine Limited emerged from a common dream shared by three talented, experienced physical therapists, Lisa Niles, Kristi Maingot and Steven Frankland. They recognized the need for a rehabilitation center like no other in the Caribbean, that would offer a holistic approach to rehabilitation, combining physical therapy, specialized hand therapy (The Caribbean Hand Center), massage therapy, athletic training, aquatic therapy, and an executive education program. This dream became a reality by merging two successful physical therapy clinics, Sports Therapy And Rehabilitation (STAR), formerly operated by Lisa Niles, and Serpentine Road Physiotherapy, formerly operated by Kristi Maingot and Steven Frankland. Renew is conveniently located at #16 Alcazar street, with onsite parking and handicap accessibility. Patient rehabilitation is maximized with modern equipment, highly trained staff, and one on one care. With patients coming from all walks of life, the staff of Renew treats problems ranging from persistent aches to serious injury. Some of the diagnoses treated include chronic low back pain, neck pain, herniated discs, sciatica, chronic head aches, total knee replacements, total hip replacements, stroke, rotator cuff repairs, ACL repairs, traumatic injuries, sprains and strains of all types. Each individual patient is treated with utmost professionalism and receives tailor made, individualized, hands on care, and advice specific to their needs.

On Lisa Niles became involved with sports therapy, directly after graduating as a physical therapist, through her work with West Indies cricketers, who were prone to shoulder, elbow, wrist and finger injuries. As a beginning therapist, she worked on the first successful limb reattachment surgery in Trinidad and Tobago, working with Dr. Rowland Moze and Vijay Narinesingh to return the hand to workable capacity. Inspired, Ms. Niles began attending learning opportunities in hand therapy over the next 5 years and finally met Dr. Alejando Badia, Chief of Hand Surgery at Baptist Hospital Miami. As a result of her interest in hand therapy and the medical relationships formed The Caribbean Hand Center was born, the first of its kind in the Caribbean.

On Kristi Maingot graduated form the University of St. Augustine, Florida with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. After managing and directing several clinics in Florida, Mrs. Maingot chose to return to Trinidad and Tobago to contribute to the growth and development of its healthcare. Renew is the realization of one of her dreams for this country, the establishment of a comprehensive clinic that offers world class treatment in the field of physical therapy.

On Steven Frankland graduated from the University of South Hampton in the UK in 2000 and worked for more than 3 years as an outpatient physiotherapist, specializing in orthopedic and sports injuries. Soon after he accepted his wife’s suggestion that they relocate to her home country, Trinidad and Tobago, and he established Serpentine Road Physiotherapy, where he continued his work. Mr. Frankland is upbeat about the potential of Renew; the support of Baptist Hospital of Miami and the ideas behind the Caribbean Hand Center.
