Atlantic
Company Profile 2011
Atlantic is one of the world's largest producers of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). We are a four-train natural gas liquefaction facility located at Point Fortin in Trinidad. Each train is owned by a group of members in its own holding Company.
Atlantic operates and manages four LNG Trains. From our first cargo on May 1, 1999 through to May 9, 2011, we have loaded 2200 cargoes of LNG bound for destinations as far as Japan. We receive natural gas from offshore fields north and east of Trinidad owned and operated by affiliates of Atlantic's members and others.
The natural gas is processed and liquefied in one of the four processing lines, or 'trains,' at our facility. Combined, the four trains that we operate and manage are capable of producing up to 100,000 cubic metres of LNG per day.
Our role in the global energy economy is significant. LNG is currently the only economical way to move natural gas from key production areas to importing countries. Trinidad and Tobago is the seventh largest LNG exporter in the world and Atlantic is responsible for processing approximately half of Trinidad and Tobago's natural gas production. Although product from Atlantic is exported around the world, the United States is the main buyer.
As a company committed to Sustainability, Atlantic is involved in a number of initiatives and partnerships aimed at enhancing our value to our community and nation, helping to create enduring opportunities for future generations. Our partnerships facilitate youth empowerment; sports sponsorships; agricultural and entrepreneurial training; skills development and training for the energy sector and health sector initiatives.
It is because of this commitment to sustainability in every aspect of life that on September 22, 2010 we changed our corporate identity to forge a closer alignment to our company's Aspiration - 'We inspire and enable our people in delivering global pace-setting performance, creating opportunities now and for future generations.' In essence, our new visual identity is reflective of our relentless desire to be always in motion, always moving forward and always leading. The complementary tagline, 'Moving a Generation Ahead,' positions us as the driving force behind Trinidad and Tobago's national development. We believe that as we develop and implement sustainability across the board we will create lasting social, economic and environmental benefits. It is through this approach that we will accomplish our goal of becoming the global benchmark in LNG operations by 2013
