The Venture Capital Incentive Programme was established through the Venture Capital Act of 1994. Its major roles include acting as regulators on behalf of the Government for the venture capital industry in Trinidad and Tobago. The VCIP also acts as a facilitator, bringing equity capital and entrepreneurs together, and as a promoter trumpeting the cause of equity financing.
Our particular model pays special attention to small and medium enterprises in order to increase the range of financing options available to them. The major players are the venture capital companies that invest in start-up and existing businesses, the investing public who benefit from tax credits and the SME’s that receive equity injections.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry has oversight of the VCIP.
