Don Miguel Extension & Churchill Roosevelt Highway, El Socorro, San Juan, Trinidad & Tobago, Alexandra Imaging Center is the First PET/CT in the region. Purpose: Alexandra Imaging Center Limited is a premier health service provider in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago that is about to embark on the first medical venture of its kind in the Caribbean.

Our services will include the first Cyclotron and Medical laboratory unit capable of producing the radioisotopes required for the diagnosis of all cancers in addition to Computed Tomography (CT) scans including the specialized scans for cancer, PET/CT. Alexandra Imaging offers a quality service utilizing the best in Radiological Expertise by internationally and locally qualified Technologists and PET/CT Radiologists. This means that patient reports are not only accurate but also consistent in delivering a confident diagnosis.

PET/CT SCAN IS PERFORMED TO:

• Detect a Cancer
• Determine whether a cancer has spread
• Assess the effectiveness of treatment plan, such as cancer therapy
• Determine if cancer has returned after treatment
• Determine blood flow to the heart muscle
• Determine the effects of a heart attack or myocardial infarction, on areas of the heart
• Identify areas of the heart muscle that would benefit from a procedure such as angioplasty or bypass surgery.
• Evaluate Brain abnormalities such as tumors, memory disorders, seizures and other nervous system disorders
• Map normal human brain and heart function

A PET/CT SCAN CAN ALSO DETERMINE:

• The difference between scar tissue from radiation treatments and active tumor tissue
• If a mass of lesion is cancer
• If enlarged lymph nodes are a result of cancer
• If normal size lymph nodes or normal appearing tissue contains cancer
• How a tumor may respond to cancer
• If a patient suffering from dementia has Alzheimer’s disease
