The Caribbean subsidiary began operations on October 27, 1997, when SAP turned 25 globally, achieving returns of 3.46 million USD, and employing 12,800 people.

With offices in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina, SAP expanded very rapidly in Latin America, growing at a rate of 230% within the same year. Thus, SAP decides to open operations in Bogotá, Santiago and Lima.

During these years, SAP grew its worldwide income by seven times and the number of employees went from 12,800 to 87,800 employees. The Caribbean region was not the exception, since inception, Puerto Rico’s local subsidiary has achieved significant growth year by year.

Simultaneously, the SAP portfolio expanded their innovative solutions with SAP HANA and different business lines such as SAP Ariba for the procurement area, SAP Success Factors for human talent management, and SAP Hybris for e-commerce and management.
