To stay a few steps ahead, the Ministry of Works and Transport has compiled a list of the most common traffic violations, the ticket penalties and and their Demerit Points, starting March 2020! Check out the list and make sure none applies to you. It’s not worth it!
Exceeding the speed limit by 1-9km/hr – $1000
& 0 Demerit Points
Exceeding the speed limit by 10-20km per hour –
$1,500 & 2 Demerit Points
Exceeding the speed limit by 21-30km per hour –
$2,000 & 4 Demerit Points
Exceeding the speed limit by 31km or more per hour – $3,000 & 6 Demerit Points
Failing to comply with a traffic light signal –
$1000.00 & 3 Demerit Points
Use of the Priority Bus Route by an unauthorised
vehicle – $2,000 & 6 Demerit Points
Driving while blood alcohol level exceeds
prescribed limit – 9 Demerit Points
Failure of driver and passenger to wear seatbelts
while driving – $1000 & 4 Demerit Points
Driving while using a handheld mobile device –
$1000 & 3 Demerit Points
