Media Release

Port of Spain, 22nd September, 2020: The Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Trinidad and Tobago Film Company Limited (FilmTT) hosted a virtual press conference on Tuesday 22nd September to announce that Trinidad and Tobago will be starring in Season 32 of Amazing Race. The premiere episode of this latest season of the famous reality game series was filmed on location in Trinidad and Tobago from November 10th & 11th 2018 by production company World Race Productions and is carded to be aired on CBS from Wednesday 14th October, 2020.

The facilitation of the project was successfully handled by T&T’s very own, Lorraine O’Connor of Riddums Productions and saw three hundred and ten (310) persons being hired locally in all areas of production, utilizing fifty-seven (57) hotel rooms and five (5) locations across both islands for a period of five to six weeks. Sixty-seven percent (67%) of the overall production expenditure generated for the reporting period of October-December 2018 was invested in the Trinidad and Tobago leg of the shoot by World Race Productions. Filming in both Trinidad and Tobago was a first for the show and the international producers were very impressed by the hard work and professionalism of the local team.

“The Government of Trinidad and Tobago has and continues to play an active role in developing our indigenous film industry and promoting Trinidad and Tobago as a choice location for filming.  The diversity of our people, culture and landscapes make a compelling backdrop for a range of films that would appeal to audiences around the world.” – Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry.

FilmTT was proud to assist Ms. O’Connor and her team in ensuring that CBS and World Race Productions were able to uphold the quality of show that they have been producing for over 30 seasons.

“Anyone who has watched a film or TV show to the end,” stated Dionne Mc Nicol Stephenson, Chairman of FilmTT, “will notice by looking at the credits that film production is not a one-man show. It takes many parts to make a whole. And that is why we at FilmTT have established the Film Friendly Network – a network of public and private entities that aid in facilitating film production in Trinidad or Tobago – adding to the ease of doing film business.”

Amazing Race is currently the longest-running reality television series in the USA and has won thirteen (13) Primetime Emmy Awards since its inception in September 2001.

FilmTT has also successfully facilitated various international productions including Lifetime’s Video Globetrotter, VH1’s Love and HipHop Atlanta and Girls Cruise, ITV’s Ainsley’s Caribbean Kitchen and Complex’s promotional short for the feature film “The Nun”, just to name just a few.
