The 2024 Special Olympics of Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) National Games was officially brought to a close as Digicel Foundation Directors LaToya Gopaul and Romona Boiselle-Romano ignited the flame in longstanding Olympic tradition.

After a day of Aquatic events and Football matches, the Special Olympics of Trinidad and Tobago (SOTT) hosted a celebratory closing ceremony for the 2024 National Games on Saturday 25th May at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

Aquatics is not for the weak; these swimmers mentally prepare to compete in the Special Olympics TT National Games at the Diego Martin Swimming Pool on 25 May 2024.

Special Olympians were regaled with a selection of musical performances from local artistes such as Michael Phillips, Keshav Chandradath Singh, Azaryah (formerly known as Flipo), and the showstopper for the evening, Nishard M.

A vision of joy in motion and adorned in medals, this Special Olympian celebrates with raised arms while being serenaded by a musical artiste at the SOTT National Games Closing Ceremony on 25 May 2024.

A long-standing tradition, Digicel Foundation Directors LaToya Gopaul and Romona Boiselle-Romano led the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The Flame was passed on to athletes Devon and Derron Baboolal, who then handed it to powerlifting athlete Elijah Obed who lit the torch signifying the official end of the SOTT games.

These footballers found themselves deep in the Goal Mouth ready to risk it all on chance and skill for the next goal in the Special Olympics TT National Games at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on 25 May 2024.

The celebrations and ceremony concluded with the announcement of the Digicel Foundation’s #BeAFan promotion winners, which offered prizes and giveaways to fans in an effort to drum up attendance in the stands throughout the National Games. For friends and family, the 1st Prize, a $2,000.00 TGIF Voucher, was won by the Memisa Centre for having the largest group in attendance, and the 2nd Prize, a $1,000.00 Domino’s Pizza Voucher, was won by Palmeras.

Winners of the #BeAFan flag competition, the Lady Hochoy School Gasparillo celebrate their win for the best school flag, walking away with a whopping $25,000 towards technology for their school.

And emerging victorious as the official winner of the #BeAFan flag competition for participating schools, Lady Hochoy School Gasparillo won $25,000.00 towards technology devices and one year of free broadband internet courtesy of Digicel+.
