First Citizens Celebrates Olympic Day with the TTOC

Last Friday June 21s the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee (TTOC) celebrated Olympic Day, themed “Move, Inspire, Experiment – Together “alongside its proud partner First Citizens. Over 300 primary and secondary school students from both islands took part in a variety of activities, educating them on the role of sport in society and the values promoted by the Olympic movement.

Mrs. Neela Moonilal-Kissoon, Group Deputy CEO – Operations and Administration, First Citizens was part of the day’s activities and highlighted the Group’s many contributions to sport, from training and development to history preservation and reward and recognition. She went on to say, “Today, our work continues! To help unearth new talent, we are proud to partner with the TTOC to present the vast opportunities in sport, to you the future Olympians…. Could this be the start of your Olympic journey? It may very well be! And so we truly want to encourage you to make full use of the information available from the various sporting organisations and most importantly, position yourself to reap the multitude of benefits that sport provides.”

Key persons present on Olympic Day included Beverly Reid-Samuel, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sport and Community Development, Assemblyman Joel Sampson, THA Secretary for Community Development, Youth Development and Sport, Derek Parker – Economics Officer – French Embassy, Hasely Crawford – T&T’s first Olympic gold medalist, national athletes and members from the National Sporting Organisations.
