MusicTT Issues Open Calls for Sponsorship
February 23rd, 2022
The Trinidad and Tobago Music Company Limited (MusicTT) has issued two open calls; Micro-Sponsorships under the Music Export Academy and a Music Events Partnership under the Live Music District. The calls, which were originally published in December 2021, were relaunched as MusicTT would like more music industry professionals to benefit from these opportunities. The Music-Sponsorship is open to events occurring between 1st April to 31st October 2022 and the Music Events Partnership is open to events occurring between 1st March to 31st October 2022. The deadline for both calls is Monday 1st August 2022.
MusicTT’s ‘Music Export Academy’ is the umbrella programme for all of the company’s workshops, conferences, webinars, and other educational or capacity building activities; which seek to foster music business development and export activity. As such, MusicTT is desirous of assisting local music industry stakeholders via micro-sponsorships to physically attend and network at regional or international music business conferences or workshops, songwriting camps, showcase at festivals or trade fairs, or perform on tour during the period 1st April 2022 to 31st October 2022; whereby MusicTT will provide micro-sponsorships towards offsetting the cost to attend same. Ten (10) Sponsorships are available each valued at $5,000 Trinidad and Tobago dollars (TTD).
MusicTT’s Live Music District was established in 2018. The Live Music District is a means for local artistes to earn revenue from performing while creating a vibrant music scene in a particular city or strip. It also seeks to encourage venues to integrate live music in its business operations. In November 2019, Port of Spain was designated a UNESCO City of Music as part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and the Live Music District is an activity under that designation. As such, MusicTT is desirous of partnering with eligible Promoters and Event Managers who are planning virtual, hybrid and/or in-person music events featuring live musical acts at venues across Trinidad and Tobago during the period 1st March 2022 to 31st October 2022; whereby MusicTT will provide a subsidy per singer/musician booked to perform at the event. This call seeks to benefit approximately 18 companies and 450-500 musical performers.
“We encourage our eligible music stakeholders to apply to the relevant call. We look forward to supporting the industry in any way that we can to ensure the continuity of growth and development of the local music ecosystem.” Melissa Jimenez, General Manager, MusicTT.
