On Sunday, May 19th, 2024, over 100 dedicated First Citizens staff members and their families joined hands to make a tangible difference at three adopted organizations for this year’s United Way National Day of Caring. The Group’s decade-long partnership with the United Way National Day of Caring exemplifies its enduring commitment to community service and volunteerism.

At Aranguez Government Primary School, volunteers worked to re-establish fully functioning grow gardens for each class, fostering an environment where students can learn about sustainability and healthy living first-hand.

The National Centre for Persons with Disabilities received much-needed support as volunteers engaged in maintenance tasks, ensuring the centre remains a safe and welcoming space for its beneficiaries.

In a bid to promote sustainability and community empowerment, First Citizens in collaboration with Yahweh Foundation, established an Intergenerational Organic Food Production Project at the Yahweh Foundation Tobago. This initiative was aimed to provide nutritious food options while fostering intergenerational bonds within the community.

Mr. Anthony Isidore Smart, Chairman, reflecting on his observation of the activities at Aranguez Government Primary School, shared, “National Day of Caring aligns with two of the Group’s core values – People and Customers as we get an opportunity to assist the community in developing the space for the students of Aranguez Government Primary School. Today, I had the privilege of working alongside our dedicated staff and their families, the principal of the school, parents, and students as we re-established the agricultural beds to fully functioning grow garden for each class in the school.”
