United Way Trinidad and Tobago Launches The 16th Annual Day of Caring

The United Way of Trinidad and Tobago (UWTT) officially launched the 16th United Way Trinidad and Tobago Day of Caring at Bethany Chambers, Port of Spain, marking nearly two decades of inspiring collective volunteerism. Scheduled for Sunday 26 April 2026, this flagship initiative will bring together volunteers from private and public sector organizations to uplift communities, build resilience, and reinforce the belief that everyone deserves an equal opportunity to succeed—guided by this year’s theme, “United Is The Way”.
As a local non-profit and part of a global network of 1,100 United Way chapters across 37 countries, UWTT has been transforming lives in Trinidad and Tobago for 25 years. Since expanding the Day of Caring into a national movement in 2013, the organization has championed the global United Way ethos: GET INVOLVED. GIVE BACK. TAKE ACTION. This initiative aligns with UWTT’s core mission – to foster stronger, more resilient communities through targeted efforts in Youth Opportunity, Healthy Communities, Financial Security, Community Resilience, and Collective Action.
At our 2025 Day of Caring, despite the inclement weather, we completed 🤝 41 Projects (such as beach cleanups and reforestation projects, school painting, as well as community gardens amongst many others), with 1,503 #CareAmbassadors. As a result, we served ❤️ 35 Primary & Secondary Schools, 5 Homes for Children & the Elderly and 2 Communities. Ultimately the cumulative efforts of the day reached 🙌 11,473 Beneficiaries across Trinidad & Tobago.
Our goal for our 16th Day of Caring for 2026 is to surpass our collective action from 2025.
Amongst those giving remarks was UWTT’s CEO, Ms. Gail Sooknarine and the Chairman of the Board Mr. Ian Benjamin, with former First Lady of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Mrs. Zalayhar Hassanali, Patroness of UWTT attending along with Ms. Anita Singh from First Citizens, who represented our Champions and Care Ambassadors and then the wider UWTT Team which included Community Resource Manager, Linda Ramsumir, Community Impact Officer- Aliya Ali Khan, Resource Development Manager- Kendall Teloka, Resource Development Officer- Ishara Agostini and Administrative Officer- Darryl Mohammed.
This year, UWTT is calling on all citizens to participate in volunteer activities on Sunday 26 April 2026 and show their support by using the hashtag #UnitedIsTheWay. Through Day of Caring 2026, UWTT continues to amplify the power of Care Ambassadors – demonstrating that no challenge is too great when we come together for the common good. Let us unite to create a stronger, more compassionate Trinidad and Tobago.
